HOBBY STOCKS
General Rules & Specifications: Revised 01 / 01 / 2005

1. COMPETING MODELS: Stock off the street, full frame, passenger car (no front wheel drive cars, station wagons convertibles, trucks or jeeps) as purchased from the factory with no modifications or alterations except as specifically allowed below. Cars and all components must be American factory steel bodies and stock appearing only and in stock position unless specifically stated otherwise in the rules. Wheelbase of cars must be 108 inches or more (no cameros, or mustangs, or other unibody cars). Chrysler unibody cars must be 112.5 inches minimum wheelbase.

2. BODIES: Car bodies must remain stock appearing. No metal may be removed except as noted. Plastic grills and chrome molding must be removed. Interior fabric must be removed.. Rear seat must be removed and rear firewalls must be covered with tin (minimum 22 gauge thickness). No aluminum, or fiberglass or homemade body part substitutions. 18 gauge aftermarket panels allowed. Fenders may be gutted, but must resemble a stock fender from the outside, wheel openings may be trimmed for tire clearance only All cars must have floor boards and firewalls that completely seal the drivers compartment from engine and fuel areas. Floor boards may be raised no higher than the top of the frame rails to allow for room of any X-bracing and exhaust clearance, (minimum 20 gauge steel must be used and must be welded into place. Original driveline tunnel must remain intact! No use of pop rivets, sheet metal screws or any other fastener for attaching steel to the floor. (Must also meet the approval of officials). Hoods, roofs, doors, trunk lids and quarter panels may be gutted. Trunk floor may be removed. Rear frame may be fabricated with (2x3x.090) steel tubing rear of the center line of the rear axle housing. All cars using a stock type bumper must have fender straps front and rear both sides. Maximum of 1/8 inch thick 6 inches wide and 12 inches long. Exceptions: cars with nose pieces. The body must appear to be stock from the outside. No aero-dynamic devices such as movable skirts, flat tops, slant roofs, flat bottoms, slant windshields or other barriers to modified air flow unless specifically allowed. A rear single plain spoiler with a maximum height of 5 inches, measured on the surface of the spoiler and up to the width of the trunk lid is allowed. No rudders or forward mounting brackets. Fixed side skirts are allowed, they must meet a minimum ground clearance rule of 4 inches and may only be run the length of the rocker panels. All headlight, tail light, and exterior body holes must be covered or filled. Stock doors may be replaced with fabricated sheet metal doors of the same thickness, but must resemble stock doors. Door skins must be welded or riveted shut. No chains. A maximum 1 inch square rub rail is permitted on both sides provided it does not extend beyond the length of the rocker panels. No functional hood scoops, a fiberglass cowl will be permitted, it must be sealed off at the back (non-functional). Hood and trunk latches must be removed. Trunk springs must be removed. Hoods must be secured with hood pins, (minimum 2 hood pins across the front of the hood). Extra care must be taken to smooth edges, bumpers, bolt ends etc. so as not to damage other cars or tires. After market noses are permitted on all cars. Bodies are to be kept up all season, cars are expected to be repaired with in reason from week to week. Damaged, bent up cars with excessive sharp edges will not be permitted to compete until fixed. This is to prevent unnecessary flat tires and to help maintain the high quality image that sponsors like to see when they come to watch their car compete.

3. ROLL BARS: A minimum 6 point properly installed roll cage of 1 3/4 inch, .090 wall, steel round tubing is required (see diagram). The main upright bars must be welded directly to the frame or fastened to the floor of unibody with a minmum 3/16th inch thick 10 X 10 inch square pad on top and bottom of floor welded and bolted securely to the floor and located directly behind the driver and reach as close to the roof and sides of the car as possible. Two vertical back brace bars of 1 3/4 inch X .090 wall must be in place and may not extend beyond the centerline of the rear axle. Additional bars may be added to the trunk provided they do not extend outside of the body. Front bay bars are allowed. They may not extend beyond the front frame horns or protrude thru any body panels. No pipe fittings, square tubing galvanized pipe, exhaust pipe or conduit pipe allowed. All welding must be electric no welding ells. Some type of X-brace between the roll bar uprights must be installed. Roll bar padding not pipe insulation in the drivers compartment is mandatory. Minimum 4 door bars following the contour of the door installed in the left side, 1 3/4 inch X .090 wall required with two vertical pickets between each level of bars. Minimum 3 door bars on right side, these door bars do not have to follow the contour of the door provided there is some sort of rub rail mounted inside the door. All cars will be inspected for quality of construction and SAFETY!!!! Quality of welds will be taken into consideration, we will not let unsafe cars compete.

4. ENGINES: The engine must be completely stock, stock appearing and in stock location. 100% stock cast exhaust manifold. The aluminum Edelbrock Performer intake manifold will be legal. 100% stock factory cast iron production heads only. Must be "street applicable," mass production for street use. No off road, made for racing, high performance, Super Duty, aftermarket, turbo, Bowtie, angle plug small block Chevy, vortec, LT-1, W-1, W-2 SVO-N heads etc. 4 barrel Ford Cleveland, W-1 and W-2 Chrysler, etc. or other non-emission control approved head. No modification allowed to the intake or exhaust manifolds or heads. Head gasket surface may be re-machined (milled) for improved sealing, but must still meet 10.8 to 1 compression rule. No spacers between heads and manifolds. the 100% stock rule includes and means: No grinding, cutting, buffing, polishing, etc. No angle milling. Heads may be resurfaced but may not change the surface and valve angle from stock. Cylinder heads multiple angle valve grinds permitted, however, maximum angle of any cut cannot exceed 75 degrees. Any cut greater than 60 degrees must be done with a steel cutter (no stones). Hydraulic cams and lifters only. No solid, mushroom, or roller lifter type cams. No roller rockers. Engine must be from same mfg. (Ford to Ford, GM to GM). No Chevy Bowtie intake. No corvette Center Dumps, GTO or other high performance manifolds. No titanium, Carbon fiber or ceramic engine or drive train components. Altered oil pans are allowed. Oil pans must have an inspection plug for officials to see crank and rod numbers. No high dollar racing cranks Lunati, Trick flow, etc. GM maximum CID, 358, Ford maximum CID, 359, Chrysler, maximum CID, 368. Maximum .500 lift cams only. Maximum 10.8 to 1 compression ratio will be enforced. All CID's over maximum must meet all specifications here-in plus add 100#. Lifter size must be factory stock size for application. Connecting rods stock type only. No after market or (H) beam style. Magnetic steel connecting rods only.

5. EXHAUST: The exhaust system using a maximum 2 1/2 inch outside diameter pipe must extend past the driver and exit to either side or rear of the car. Some form of muffler is required. Raceway noise levels must be met!

6. CARBURETION: All cars must run a Holley 4412 series two barrel carb. It may not be milled, polished or modified in any way unless specifically stated. Jets, power valves and squirters may be changed for tuning. Choke horn may not be milled. Choke plate may be removed. Inner boars will be checked. After market air cleaner bases and cool boxes that seal to the hood to pull air off the windshield are legal. No ram air ducting. One carb. spacer is allowed, no phenolic or wood spacers, aluminum only. Carb spacer and gasket 2 1/8th inch maximum. Double throttle return springs working from two locations are required. No Dial-A-Jet devices. No super chargers. Carb hats are legal. Keith Dorton 500 cfm carburator #0-80583-1 also allowed. In addition cold air boxes may only be 24Ó wide and the remainder of the opening between the hood and windshield must be sealed.

7. SEAT: Aluminum racing seat only (no fiberglass). 8. SUSPENSION: Suspension system must be factory stock for subject car. Suspension systems must remain completely and strictly stock, meaning: no welding, cutting, drilling, buffing, grinding, or other modification is permitted except as noted. Stock, urethane or metal bushings allowed, however, stock mounts only. After market ball joints are permitted. No tubular, aluminum or other after market parts such as Howe, Dillon, Flexi-Flyer, Stock Car Products, home made or altered stock etc. All control arms must be in stock location (ie. Right side arms on right side of car). The after market GM off set upper control arm shaft is allowed but may not be ground on. Upper tubular control arm-Steel 1 piece non-adjustable allowed. Maximum shock $85 steel bodied only. Steering must be in typical stock arrangement and location (no rack and pinion). Spindles may be interchanged with other factory stock spindles. No pan hard bars, coil over shock units, small diameter springs, sliders, struts, additional control arms etc. Unless it came with your car from the factory and was factory installed. No extra shocks. No aluminum body shocks. Front spring cups also allowed. No remote adjustable suspension or other unusual devices allowed in the drivers compartment. Wheel caster camber may be adjusted. No rear sway bars. Front sway bar may be adjustable and mounted beneath the A-frames, (the stock bar must be used). Heim shocks allowed on all corners. Screw jacks allowed on all corners. Front shocks may be mounted outboard. Rear shocks must remain in stock location.

8A. SPRINGS: Any spring, minimum 5 inches diameter, (including racing) is allowed. Springs may be cut, shimmed, heated, bent, etc. spacers or wedges may be used. Springs must be mounted in the stock location and position.

9. STEERING: Center of steering wheel must be padded and collapsible type steering shaft is mandatory. No rack and pinion or steering ration multiplier units allowed. After market steering shaft with heims is allowed, minimum two u-joints are required.

10. BRAKES: Factory type, foot operated brake pedal and master cylinder in stock location & position. All 4 brakes must work. One brake bias adjuster is allowed. Ducting to the front brakes is allowed. No rear disc brakes.

11. BUMPERS: Camaro, Vega or any other factory bumper may be used in place of the stock Bumpers. No front or rear bulwark, chains or other reinforcement to front or rear of car, all cars with tubular / shock type bumper brackets must secure them to the frame by attaching (welding or bolting) chains or straps to them so they will not fall off or be be knocked off. No cutoff bumper ends. Cars with nose pieces such as the Monte Carlo nose will be permitted to run an aftermarket tubular bumper, (it may not protrude thru the nose piece). Front and rear bumpers must be with in one inch of 19 inches on center.

12. GLASS: A glass or lexan (mimimum 1/8 of an inch with properly installed brace) windshield of approximate size, angle and configuration must cover the wind shield opening. All other glass must be removed. Rear window and quarter windows may be replaced with lexan. Headlights, tail lights and chrome trim must be removed. One rear view mirror not exceeding 36 square inches is allowed. No convex or multi-focal. Properly installed door mirror allowed

13. COOLING SYSTEM: Aluminum radiators are permitted. Must have an overflow can in the engine compartment that is working and securely mounted. Water cooling only, no antifreeze or other chemicals. A fine of $100 will be assessed for anyone using anything but water in the radiator. A fan shroud must cover top 1/2 of fan. Aluminum water pumps are allowed.

14. ELECTRICAL: Stock OEM distributor. No crank trigger, multiple coil, MSD (or similar) programable ignition systems or other types of ingition system that was no OEM. . If the battery is relocated into the drivers compartment, it must be securely mounted in a battery box behind the drivers seat. All cars must have self starter in good working order. All cars must have a master power disconnect mounted behind the drivers seat. All cars with out key ignition must have a "Marked" master kill switch, either push, pull or toggle, within reach of the driver and by safety officials.

15. FUEL & GAS TANK: A safe and secure mounted, 8.5 gallon maximum, fuel cell is required. The fuel cell must maintain a 10 inch ground clearance. The fuel line must exit the cell from its top and have a marked master shut off valve at or near the tank. No fuel lines in the drivers compartment. No hidden fuel lines. The fuel fill must be made by opening the trunk lid. Mechanical stock type fuel pump only. No additional fuel reservoir or pressure equalizing systems. Gasoline type fuel only, no alcohol, nitrous, or other addatives. Specific gravities will be tested.

16. TIRES: The track tire is mandatory for all cars in this class. No soaking, treating, heating, etc. to change composition. Any one caught with tire softener is their possession or hauler will be fined and softener confiscated.

17. WHEELS: A steel racing wheel is required on the right front. Maximum 8 inch wheel width. All other wheels must be steel stock factory or racing wheels. Wheel offset afforded by racing wheels of not less than 2 inches is allowed. No shimming for or other offset allowed. Longer oversized wheel studs and lug nuts allowed. No home made wheels.

18. TRANSMISSION, REAR END & DRIVE LINE: American passenger car automatic transmission and rear end only in stock location. Rear end must be stock for subject car only, gear ratio optional. No quick changes. Must have working torque converter. Floor shift conversion allowed. Inspection holes must be provided. Locked or posi rear-end permitted. No truck rear-ends or floaters. Transmissions must have all forward and reverse gears in working order, this will be checked by officials. Must be closed tube type. Solid steel axles only (no gun drilled). No torque sensing differentials like (Tor-Sen, Gleason, Quick Track, Detroit Locker, Tru Trac or similar). Drive shaft must be steel and painted white, a "U" hanger is required.

19. WEIGHT & GROUND CLEARANCE: All cars must weigh a minimum of 3100 lbs. (with driver). Right side weight minimum 45%, front weight minimum 53%. Any added weight must be mounted to the frame structure and not be mounted to the firewall, floor pan or within the drivers compartment. All weights must have car number painted on them. Loss of weight will result in a $25 fine. All weight will be determind by the Raceway scales only. A minimum of 4 inch ground clearance with the driver in the car is required. Side skirting must also meet the 4 inch ground clearance. The nose of the car must be a minimum of 5 inches off the ground. All weights and clearances will be checked with the driver in the car.

20. CLAIM: The "engine" is subject to claim at a price of $500 for an out right purchase. In lieu of an outright claim and purchase of an engine, the claimee can elect to exchange engines with the claimer. In addition the claimer will pay the claimee $100. All cars are eligible to be claimed by any other car finishing in the lead lap of the feature. See separate section for expanded claim rules, however the "engine" does not include the carburetor and adaptor, distributor and wires, exhaust manifolds, starter, power steering pump and water pump/fan blade assembly.
